The moretta has always been one of the most captivating ones, a simple round disc of black leather with no mouth, designed to enhance the femininity of the face and the secrecy of the wearer.The only way to hold the mask into place is to bite on a button or a pearl.This means the person wearing could not eat, speak or drink in public; It also meant the possibility to be free and to hide, breaking through the strict moral boundaries of the time.
The Moretta leotard is designed after 16th century corset stays, inspired by the Venetian Courtesans and their style.In a time where black was the norm, the courtesans wore colours, expensive silks and pearls.
Designed as a bustier merged with an under leotard, it allows to create endless outfit combinations, maintaining the corset lines over a skirt or pants; traditional boning was overcome with high tech application bondings and refined with laser, allowing to hide, like a mask, the straight waist lines of any ballet skirt; also introducing our newest tech stretch satin, mixed along four other exclusive fabrics, all individually sourced from exclusive Italian producers.
